Douglas K. Hartman is a professor of Literacy & Technology in the College of Education at Michigan State University. He also holds appointments as Co-Director of the Literacy Achievement Research Center, Co-Senior Editor of the Journal of Literacy Research, and Research Fellow with the Center for Health Intervention & Prevention. He has authored over 50 journal articles, book chapters, technical reports, and book reviews.  He received the prestigious Albert J. Kingston Award for distinguished scholarly service to the field of literacy. Hartman’s expertise lies in the areas of new literacies, adolescent literacy, health literacy, and the history of literacy.
